2008 Bangor Book Festival Warmly Received

The 2008 Bangor Book Festival brought together Maine authors with appreciative readers of all ages. This year’s theme, Voices at the Threshold, focusedon a world poised for change. Our authors dealt with people facing periods of change and challenge—sometimes personal, sometimes political, but always interesting.

Writers at the 2008 Festival included: Ellen Booraem, Kate Braestrup, Lyn Mikel Brown, W. Hodding Carter, Kathleen Ellis, Leonore Hildebrandt, Annaliese Jakimides, Carrie Jones, Robert Klose, Lynn Plourde, Patricia Ranzoni, Catherine Schmitt, Jan Schrock, and Monica Wood.

Major sponsors of the Bangor Book Festival include the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation , the City of Bangor, the Maine Humanities Council, and the Friends of the Bangor Public Library, with additional support from the Bangor Public Library, Maine Discovery Museum, the Briar Patch BookShop, the Fogler Library at the University of Maine, and individual donors.

Board sets October 2-3 as date for 2009 Book Festival

The executive board of the Bangor Book Festival has set October 2-3, 2009 as the dates of the next Festival.

Planning is now underway and suggestions are invited from prior year attendees and others interested in making the Book Festival an even more popular contribution to Bangor's cultural offerings.
